"From all sides we heard, 'it is foolish to be a dreamer,' and that our ideas were 'impractical, stupid, naive, or foolish', that you have 'got to have money to go places,' that 'luck determines who gets ahead or you've got to have important friends,' or you're 'too old or too young.'" The Magic of Thinking Big by David J. Schwartz, phD
As a result of being bombarded by this "you-can't-get-ahead-so-don't-bother-to-try" mindset, many people have given up on life and their dreams. The three groups that Mr. Schwartz listed include those that have totally given up and convince themselves that they are truly satisfied in their jobs and happy with their unhappy marriages. These people have rationalized themselves into a rut.
Another group enters life with some hope of fulfilling their dreams and achieving success. So they work, they plan and after a number of years and lots of resistance and being laughed at, they resign themselves to stay right where they are. They become afraid. Instead of plugging their nose and jumping in, these people become fearful and stay right where they are, despite the deep down dissatisfaction.
And finally the third group of people are the
top 2-3% ers. These people live and breathe success and find life stimulating, rewarding, fulfilling and they attack it with gusto. They look forward to each day and the adventures that lie ahead and they know that if challenging, they will grow, and if simple, they will excel.
Which group resonates with you, where you are right now?
Are you happy and fulfilled in your business, your job, personally, financially, physically? What will it take for you to move out of one group, and into another?
Do you believe that is even possible?
I appreciate you and value your vulnerability!
